We are lucky people! Thank you, Aztec Gods, for shining your Mexican Love and Magic on our very first crowdfunding campaign. Colleagues, family, friends far and wide, thank you! Your belief in education is changing lives! Your support of the Sierra School of Todos Santos is no less than tremendous. Not only did we totally ace our first online campaign, thanks to your extraordinary generosity, our campaign has brought visibility and credibility to our creation of The Sierra School. Over 95 people--some donors comprised of a group of people--have contributed over 7,800 Euros / $ 8,500 U.S. Dollars to our school (with approximately 7,000 Euros for us after our commision to ULULE). This funding will finance the purchase of first year literature and textbooks, the beginnings of our learning library, organic seeds for our school vegetable garden, 3 high-powered electric ceiling fans and their installation, 2 large dry erase whiteboards and 1 old style blackboard, 25 chairs, 3 large bookshelves for our library and learning materials, a black and white computer printer, 2 seminar tables, and a watertight storage unit to protect teaching materials from dust, insects, rain. During our campaign, The International School of Paris shared our news with the ISP community of parents, and ISP donated 6 used laptop computers to The Sierra School. Mille fois merci, ISP, a leading International Baccalaureate World School for nurturing a forward-looking relationship with The Sierra School. Thanks to ISP support of The Sierra School, leaders from the International Baccalaureate Organization have learned of our project to bring the IB to developing Mexico. IB leaders are excited about and supportive of the creation of The Sierra School! Yes miracles happen: an anonymous donor, learning more about our project through our online campaign --in an act of singular and phenomenal generosity--has directly gifted €15,000 Euros to our French non-profit organization to promote our scholarship mission of The Sierra School. This gift is an annually renewable pledge to follow and nurture 3 deserving children and fund the tuition wavers of Aliya, Diego and Ana Sofia, three highly-motivated and promising Mexican students of our creation class. Not only will we be able to actually finance three tuition wavers, these funds invested in our school will cover several operating costs of our program and pay for our potable drinking water, water utilities (for our sinks, toilet and garden), electricity, Internet and telephone. These funds invested in our program will also serve to help pay for additional legal fees, and the salaries of our Spanish teacher, Nataly Muñoz Talavera, and Cheri Streimikes, our visual art teacher. We are grateful. We are more than grateful! We are excited to bring our hard work and IB vision to Todos Santos. You have poems, postcards, news, photos of gratitude and recognition coming your way. ABRAZOS GRANDES!
